Meet Lando Soldati

Q. What’s your super power?

A: Oh, man. My favorite character to cosplay is Daredevil. I dig the red hair.  He’s got crazy ninja skills and the power to satisfy the ladies. But since I have none of those skills in real life, I’ll claim my ability to solve complex computer programming issues. And because I get bored with the day-to-day stuff, I do some white hat hacking on the side for fun.

Q. On what occasion, do you lie?

A: When I’m dealing with a difficult client and they’re trying to tell me how to do my job. I’ve learned to nod my head and make non-committal sounds so they know I’m listening, but not actually agree with them. They think I’m going to do things their way (which won’t work) so they leave happy. Maybe it’s not actually lying, but it feels like it.

Q. When and where were you the happiest?

Sixth grade. The first time I built a computer from scratch. My parents got me the case and motherboard for my birthday, and the rest of the parts were scavenged from various broken computers of family and friends. It took me a few days to assemble it, as I figured out how to fit everything together, but when I pushed the power button it actually turned on! It wasn’t the most powerful computer in the world, but it worked! Every time I build a new computer, I still remember the thrill of seeing the green light flickering that first time.

Q. What is your biggest regret?

That I didn’t do a dual major with Robotics as my second area of study. I don’t know that I want to work in the Robotics field, but I find the subject fascinating, especially when you realize how much of our lives are already spent interacting with computers. When I get around to going for my Masters, I might consider studying Robotics instead of Comp Sci.

Q. What is your motto?

Geeks Rule! But I live by these words. “There are 10 kinds of people in this world: those who understand binary and those who don’t.” It reminds me to have patience when I’m dealing with those who don’t.

Q. Clothes in the hamper or on the floor?

On the floor. That’s one of the joys of living the single life. I can toss my clothes on the floor until I’m ready to wash them. Which I do once a week. Mostly. As long as my mother doesn’t come to visit, it’s all good.

Q. Where do you see yourself in five years?

I really like where I am now. I’ve got a good job and a good boss and live in a state that’s never boring. There’s amusement parks and nightclubs and plenty of beaches and good looking girls in bikinis. I might even get serious about one of them some day, but I’m not ready to settle down with anyone yet.

Author Bio: Born and raised among the rolling hills of western Pennsylvania, P.J. MacLayne still finds inspiration for her books in that landscapes. She is a computer geek by day and a writer by night who currently lives in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. When she’s not in front of a computer screen, she might be found exploring the back roads of the nearby national forests and parks. In addition to the Free Wolves’ stories, she is also the author of the Oak Grove series.

Love on the Rocks is her contribution to the anthology “Stories of Sun, Sand and Sea.” Lando also appears in the Oak Grove series.

Lets meet Beck Holland from AFTER THE STORM!

Beck Holland is the leading man in After the Storm, which will release as part of our anthology, Stories of Sun, Sand, and Sea. He comes from a well-known family and resides in Ember Cove, Alaska, where he’s lived his entire life. When he’s not playing handyman, you can find him playing guitar and singing in the local bar.

Q: “Pull up a chair and let’s break the ice shall we? If you were stuck in the middle of a zombie apocalypse and you had three people to help you fight of the zombie horde, who would they be?

A: “Do they have to be real or fictional? Don’t believe in zombies, but should all my intuition on such things be wrong…I’m going to mix it up with some real and some fictional people. First I would choose Charlene McCann, because she’s pretty fierce when she wants to be and I hear she’s a wicked shot. That guy from the Walking Dead that all the chicks go nuts for…what’s his name? Right, Daryl Dixon. Last I would have to choose Travis because although he’s a pain in the ass, he’s good in a fight.”

Q: “So Beck, are you a clothes in the hamper or on the floor?”

A: “Typically the clothes go in the hamper, but it would depend on my day went and how anxious I was to get out of my clothes. My mother was firm on certain things when I was growing up, and now that I live on my own, they’ve kind of stuck.”

Q: “What is your biggest fear? What frightens you the most?”

A: “Never being able to outrun the legacy of womanizing that the Holland men are known for. I would love to be able to prove my dad wrong and make a relationship stick for the long haul.”

Q: “What’s your favorite guilty pleasure?”

A: “Watching a movie, in bed, with my girl cuddled up next to me. There is nothing like it.” Beck leaned back in the chair. “Wow. Never thought I’d hear something like that come out of my mouth.”

Q: “What’s your favorite comfort food?”

A: “Homemade Barbeque Chicken Pizza. Has to be on a thin crust though. Most people in my family think it’s disgusting, but once I was introduced to it, I was hooked.”

Q: “Have you ever Googled yourself?”

A: “No. Don’t want to know what exists out there on the World Wide Web about yours truly. I’m sure there are plenty of things that depict a side of me, I’d rather forget.”

Q: “If I give you a time machine, what time period and in what place would you travel to?”

A: “I wouldn’t go back too far. I wish I was living in the fifties. Classic cars, chicks in poodle skirts or pedal pushers, leather jackets, and old fashioned rumbles.”

Character Interview with Blake Duncan from Beach Baby Blues

Beach Baby Blues is a short story included in a romance anthology entitled Stories of Sun, Sand and Sea:  11 Beaches – Anything Can Happen.  The anthology is set for release on June 28, 2016 and is up for pre-order now!  Just $.99 for these 11 beach tales!   Click here to pre-order!

Blake Duncan shares all

I’m fortunate enough to be involved with some very talented authors.  This particular time, ten others.  We have grouped together and wrote brand new short stories for a new box set we have coming out very soon, titled Stories of Sun, Sand and Sea – 11 Beaches – Anything Can Happen.  We’ve created the hashtag #11Beaches, feel free to retweet or share using that hashtag!

These short stories are set on a beach, and the beaches are all over the world.  And, we each selected two characters from the other authors in the anthology and used them in our stories as minor characters.  That was fun.  But, until #11Beaches releases, let’s enjoy an interview from Stephany Tullis’ character, Blake Duncan, from her story, Beach Baby Blues.  Oh, and Blake is one of the characters that I used in my story!!!!

1.    Q. What’s your super power?

A. That’s easy. Can’t believe you haven’t guessed.  My charisma. My charm. Women and men alike are dazzled by my good looks . My looks are like honey to bees…fragrant, tantalizing and sweet. People are drawn to me by my looks and bewitched by my charm. I’ve never lost a friend.

2.    Q. On what occasion, do you lie?

A: I need to clarify before I answer this question. In my business, I negotiate. I manage five bands. My job is to get my peeps the best gig I can get.  Representing them well can be tough especially at times when they may be competing for the same tour date. Getting that best deal is not always easy. I    have to do what I have to do. I hate it especially when I have to undercut one of  my bands for another. It can get tricky. You just have to understand the business.  And I do.

3.    Q. When and where were you the happiest?

A. Strange you should ask. If I had been asked this question last month, I don’t believe I would have had an answer. Just recently though…a few weeks ago, I ran into a childhood friend on a cruise ship. She was hosting her baby sister’s bachelorette party. Hadn’t see her in years–since high school. We had a few drinks on the ship. Some late night conversation. I had such a great time. Makes me wonder what my life would have been like, if I’d settled down with Shelby. Hmmmm.

4.    Q.What is your biggest regret?

A. Wow! You’re not going to believe this but my biggest regret is not having children. Of course, with my life style, it’s probably for the best. But I use to imagine myself with twins. A girl and a boy. Blakely and Duncan. They’re beautiful. Curly , deep copper colored hair and hazel eyes. And of course, they both love music.  She loves to sing and has such a range. And Duncan dominates the keyboard–like a Brian Culbertson.

5.    Q. What is your motto?

A. Love this question. I have a wall hanging in my music room that says: “For all of you who gossip about me: Thanks for making me the center of your world.” I don’t know to whom I should attribute the quote but I use it all the time. It’s the story of my life. I love what I do. I love my artists. Music. And traveling. I love cutting that deal. I mind my business and wish those who speculate about my success, to leave me the H alone–pardon my French.

6.    Q. Clothes in the hamper or on the floor?

A. My clothes go from the dry cleaner, to my suitcase, to my body and then, the floor. How’s that?

7. Q.Where do you see yourself in five years?

A. Five years older. Still charming. Haha. I’d like to think I’d be ready to settle down. Find me a special somebody–who loves music and maybe travel. Without the somebody, I see myself doing more of the same…traveling with my bands.
